By MBTA: Take the MBTA Green Line to the Arlington Street stop.
Take a right out of the station, toward Boylston Street. When you get above ground, take a left on Boylston Street, keeping the Starbucks on your left and the Citizens Bank on your right. At the end of Boylston Street, take a left onto Arlington Street. At the 2nd intersection of Arlington Street with Commonwealth Avenue, take a left, keeping the Commonwealth Mall on your right. 5 Commonwealth Avenue will be on your right.
Driving: MapQuest it!
From the north/south: Take Route 93 to Storrow Drive. Take the second exit, labeled Back Bay/Copley Square. At the traffic light, take a left onto Beacon Street and an immediate right onto Arlington Street. Take your second right onto Commonwealth Avenue. The BCAE is the third building on the right.
From the west: Take the Mass. Turnpike to the Prudential/Copley Square exit. Stay in the right lane and at the traffic light turn left onto Dartmouth Street. At the second traffic light, take a right onto Boylston Street. Go to the fourth traffic light, and take a left onto Charles Street. At the corner turn left onto Beacon Street, then take a left onto Arlington Street. (You should have circled around the Public Gardens.) Take your second right onto Commonwealth Avenue. The BCAE is the third building from the corner.
Parking: Boston Common Garage: Located on Charles Street, between the Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden.
Parking costs are $8.00 for non-members, $6.00 for BCAE Members and teachers. Parking coupons are available for purchase in the Student Services office on the first floor during the following hours:
Monday - Thursday: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Friday - 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Parking coupons are available for registered BCAE students only.
Coupons are valid from
weeknights from 4:00 pm to 10:00 am the following day.

The BCAE is grateful to The Commonwealth School, whose space is made available to us to help us accomodate all of our classes on busy nights. If your class has been moved to The Commonwealth School, you will be notified by Student Services.

Take a left onto Dartmouth Street and follow it until you reach the intersection with Commonwealth Avenue. The school is located at the corner or Dartmouth Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

From 93: Take 93 N or S to Storrow Drive. Take the left exit to Copley Square. At the intersection, take a right onto Beacon Street. At the second traffic light, take a left onto Clarendon Street. The second traffic light on Clarendon Street is Commonwealth Avenue. Take that right. Follow Commonwealth Avenue to the next intersection, which is Dartmouth Street. Commonwealth School is located on the right at this intersection.
From the Mass Pike: Take the Prudential/Copley Square exit from the Mass pike West. Stay in the right lane following signs for Copley. As you come out of the tunnel get into the far left lane. At the light turn left onto Dartmouth Street. At the fourth light you will be at Commonwealth Avenue. The school is on the far right corner.
Parking: Metered parking is limited
A few parking garages are also located near the school:
- at the corner of Newbury and Dartmouth Streets
- under Copley Place, off Huntington Avenue
- at the corner of Clarendon and Stuart Streets
- under the Prudential Center, off Boylston
- behind Trinity Church in Copley Square
On foot from the BCAE: The Commonwealth School is at 151 Commonwealth Avenue.
The Commonwealth School is located on Commonwealth Ave between Dartmouth and Claredon Street. From the BCAE, follow Commonwealth Avenue west 3 blocks. The building will be on the right.
